An Enemy of the People presents the story of Doctor Stockman, the head of a health branch for a local spa which is the biggest tourist attraction in the area. In discovering that the water was contaminated, putting the health of the public at risk, Doctor Stockman must decide to either reveal the information that he has discovered, or succumb to the economic and political interests of the city, which pressure him to keep the information a secret..

In the staging of the play, the action is portrayed both live and on film. The actors are in a scene within a scene (an inner stage inside the stage), and their actions are portrayed directly through the camera when the interior curtains are closed.

The play exposes the limits of democracy and its fragility, focusing on the price people pay when they express their opinions while the majority disagrees.
