MIRAR is the company’s ninth production. Its premiere took place in August 2022 at the Centro Cultural Gabriela Mistral, GAM.
The creation arises from two questions related to the eye injuries and mutilations suffered by civilian population in October 2019 and the following months in Chile: what do they take away from me when they take away my sight? and, those of us who continue to see, will we continue to do so in the same way?
To develop these questions, the staging will take place inside an immersive scenic device that contemplates the use of a camera obscura. There, the audience will be able to observe what happens inside an eye when light projects the external image of the world onto the retina.
MIRAR renovates the group’s commitment to link socio-political current affairs with the formal investigation of the image on stage.
This filmic performance is a co-production of Colectivo Zoológico, GAM and Espacio Checoeslovaquia, with the collaboration of Proyecto Arde and Goethe Institut Chile through its 18-O program.
