An Enemy of the People presents the story of Dr. Stockman, the regional health chief of a small hot springs resort, the main tourist attraction and engine of the local economy. When he discovers that the waters are contaminated, endangering the health of the population, the doctor sees the contradiction between making the truth known to the people and succumbing to the economic interests and political authorities of the city who are pushing to silence the situation.
In the piece, the action is split into theater and cinema. The actors are on a stage within the stage and their performances are projected with a live camera when the curtains of that inner stage are closed. The work exposes the limits of democracy and its fragility, warning about the price paid by those who say loudly what the majority denies.
